A fab family trip. The lodge location - literally across the street from the ski lift and 3 minutes walk from another one was a HUGE plus. Also, it was awesome to be just up the street from the main dining/shopping area of the village of Akakura, which had a great vibe. Fun bars and little restaurants, humming with snow loving folk ready to trade stories of the day that was. Hottest 100 in a bar in Japan was a fun afternoon. Winning Bingo and a round of Espresso Martinis was also great! Ikigai has views of the ski runs and mountains all around, is comfy and has great staff ready to help you out. We especially loved having the guide, Nic from Dancing Snow comes to Apres in the lodge lounge on a Tuesday and Thursday to give us tips about where to go, weather and understanding the local area. We ended up doing a snow-shoe hike with him that was an incredible day out. We trekked to shrines in the snow, crossed icy creeks and saw bears claw marks on trees, we had a snow tabe built for us and a hot lunch with wine made, then we trekked to a frozen lake. Lodge dinner one night was Delicious. Many wonderful family memories!
