Jam Lodge

Jam Lodge is located in the heart of Hirafu village just 400m walk from the Hirafu family lift, surrounded by forest and untouched nature and within a few minutes' walk of Hirafu and all the action Niseko Ski Resort has to offer.  Completely refurbished in 2015, this great value Niseko ski lodge was originally built in the 80’s and cared for over the past 25 years by its former Japanese owner.  It is steeped in history with a great mix of comfort and Niseko quirkiness. With beautiful wood polished finishes Jam Lodge has the feel of a cosy Alpine home.

Snow Conditions

Niseko Ski Resort:
Has four main ski areas - Annupuri, Higashiyama, Hirafu, and Hanazono, and from November to April a prevailing wind blows in from the Russian mainland blanketing the region in deep powder snow. The weather patterns that form over west Hokkaido and the Sea of Japan cause snow to fall regularly in this region and that is why this area has some of the island’s highest snowfall. The numerous ski runs - over 48km in total - can accommodate skiers of any level, from beginner to professional. With wide open runs, gladed areas, groomed and off-piste slopes, not to mention the adventure of the backcountry - Niseko has something for everyone.

1/  Niseko HANAZONO
At HANAZONO you'll find powder, piste, pipe and parks! A variety of courses including dedicated learning areas for beginners, terrain parks, FIS half pipe and the superb tree runs of Strawberry Fields. HANAZONO 308 Centre has a great Apres Ski atmosphere.

2/  Niseko Grand Hirafu
With the largest area of the 4 resorts, Grand Hirafu boasts an unforgettable powder snow experience. A wide range of facilities, shops and restaurants are located at the base of the mountain.

3/  Niseko Village
Incredible off-piste powder skiing with The Green Leaf Niseko Village and Hilton Niseko Village at its base! Niseko Village offers some of the best and longest skiing and snowboarding trails. Scenic courses lead through beautiful natural forests... a top pick for families.

4/  Niseko Annupuri
Skiers and snowboarders of all abilities can enjoy fresh powder snow or perfectly groomed runs.  Niseko Annupuri has fantastic views from the slopes and a well-designed base area featuring natural onsens.

Niseko All Mountain Lift Pass:
Visitors who purchase this pass can make use of all of the area’s 38 lifts and easily explore all four areas. The longest run that Niseko offers is a challenging 5.6km. The thing that attracts so many people to Niseko is the quality of the snow which, because it has a moisture content of only 8%, is extremely light and dry and makes for wonderful skiing. It is not uncommon to experience a minimum of knee-deep powder. Additionally, the resort stretches far around the mountain, providing extremely favorable light conditions from morning to dusk; then, when the sun sets, night skiing courses are well-lit for many hours. Visitors to the area in winter are not confined to skiing and snowboarding.  Ask World Snowfaris about Heli-skiing, Cat-skiing, Snowcat Tours, Snow Mobiling, Sled Adventures, Crosscountry Skiing, Snow Shoeing and more...

Optimum Conditions:

For those hunting deep powder days, pick January/February every time!  Frequent fresh snowfall can be expected every few days and the temperatures are consistently cold keeping the snow in great condition.  Try to book 12 months out for top pick of January availability!

For those after bluebird days and slightly warmer temperatures then pick March for sure.  Amazing powder can still be expected.

April is a good time for family holidays with kids learning to ski or snowboard.  The sun is out to play and you're not rugged up in so many layers.

Mid to late December can still bring powder days, however its hit and miss... as with April, it's a great time to avoid the crowds and enjoy the trails even though some off-piste areas may not be open.
